Frequently Asked Questions
1 Will I lose control of my mind during the session?
No. The unconscious mind only accepts suggestions that are
congruent with the conscious mind. Effectively, you tell me
what you want changed in your life and you just “borrow”
my voice for the duration of the therapy when I basically
repeat to you what you have just told me but in a hypnotically
effective language while you are in a relaxed state!
2 Will I be "under" and have no recollection
of the session?
Research has shown that the depth of trance has no relevance
to successful outcomes. In fact, people achieve hypnotic results
without being hypnotized in the conventional sense of the
word. Outcomes depend primarily on the person's internal motivation
and his/her belief system and of course the skill of the therapist.
The more you want to change and the more you believe this
process will help you change, the more likely you will achieve
that change. This is why I usually work in light trance and
you will most likely be totally aware of your surroundings.
And if you do happen to drift off to “sleep”,
it will work just the same for you.
3 How many sessions will I need?
That varies from person to person. Single session successes
are common although some clients will need more sessions if
the problem is deep seated. Generally speaking, quitting smoking,
phobias, panic attacks and obsessive compulsive behaviours
enjoy single successes more often than weight loss, alcoholism,
gambling, eating disorders and pain management, which often
enjoy partial success after one session but require more sessions
to gain freedom from the conditions.
Even if the first session is a total success, it is recommended
that a follow up session in 4 to 6 weeks be booked for reinforcement
and maintenance.
4 I s it compatible with the Christian faith?
Hypnosis is a much misunderstood discipline in the Christian
circle. If you are a Christian, click
